11^th day of Manga Advent Calendar 2015

Hello everyone, here is the eleventh day of Manga Advent Calendar 2015.Now as I said as yesterday’s hint that today’s manga is a new favoured manga of mine and you should be hyping about. Today’s manga is Ajin: Demi-Human.

Now I bought this manga after I was done reading Attack On Titan. I was feeling I needed something else such as a darker spin on a well-known story. Now I was looking at manga that are becoming anime or film as I was seeing what may be shown at the next year Scotland Loves Anime Film. Now I know what you may be thinking why should I be hyped about this, the answer is it makes you think and it’s getting not just one film but three.

Now the story about Ajin: Demi-Human is set in a world where there are people who are classified as Ajin they are humans that can’t die (like immortals) but instead of being superheroes as most manga would chose that story lines. They are undesirables and are hunted down by the government as they can use them to experiment on. Now our protagonist is Kei Nagai who is a newly classified Ajin is now on the run from the government. Now this is putting the story simply but the story is expanding with why Ajin exist and other such questions (I’m avoiding the main part of this story as this goes into spoilers)

The reason why I love this because it’s a twist on an anime trope (just like Madoka Magica or Neon Genesis Evangelion) there has been a cliché that over powered characters are seen as heroes or respectable figures. With this story is a shake-up of this cliché by putting this story in a realistic setting. That persons who could be immortal the government would want to experiment with them for the benefit of everyone else. There are also the ethics about betrayal and loyalty when it comes to friends and parents of Ajin. They could gain money for giving over the Ajin to the government so they don’t know who to trust. All the hype that Attack on Titan has I believe this will get an anime with the three films on the way. The concept is fresh, thinkable and I believe hype worthy and that’s why I chose it.
