Hello, Welcome to the 9th day of the manga Advent Calendar
of 2016 and today we will be looking into “Prince Of Tennis “and how it popularised
tropes found in most modern sport anime and became my classic sport manga used to
get people into manga.
The basic premise is that Ryoma Echizen, attends Seishun
Academy famous for its strong tennis club and talented players. He secures a
spot as one of the team's regulars and works in pursuit of their ultimate goal
of winning the National Middle School Tennis Championship. We then see the main
development grow in his skills but also as a person as he links with his team
and classmates in funny situations and heartfelt development with the rest of
the cast. This manga is really good and it’s also a good length which lends its
self to the diverse team, sure they don’t have as much deep trauma that modern shows
like to give but it’s a bit easier to swallow as some of the backstories can be
melodramatic and laughable at times. The art style in the panels is nice and portray
the movement of tennis pace very well, just like Yuri On Ice does with ice skating(it’s
a good show which I will be covering at a later date another thing that made me attracted to the storyline
was the anime and the follow-on stories it which is good thing to happen as we
learn to love the cast of this store and it gives us more of what we like, like
for example Kuroko no Basuke’s new season Extra Game which is a follow on from
the end of the manga and gives the fans the team that we all wanted. Over all
this is a good intro manga for people who don’t like sports or who are experimenting
with sports in relation to manga/anime, it’s a classic must read.
My personal fact for day ten of the manga Advent Calendar of
2016, is that I reading stories from different perspectives or alternative universes
as the story can be changed if one thing happened or doesn’t is some cases, the
manga for tomorrow will be based on a very popular anime and tells the tale that
if one person got an ability they were never supposed to have and how this effects
the story overall.
See you all soon, Regards Fiona
