Hello, Welcome to the 8th day of the manga Advent Calendar
of 2016 and today we will be looking into “Dagashi Kashi“ and how it teaches
about candy, snacks and the culture around these treats that that the west
can’t get enough of these original snacks
The basic premise is that Kokonotsu runs a countryside sweets
store. He aspires to be a manga artist, an ambition that puts him at odds with
his father who wants him to inherit the store which has been run by the family
for generations. We see the introduction Hotaru Shidare a girl whose father
owns a famous snacks company who plans to recruit Kokonotsu and make him
inherit the store. The we see interesting situations involving situations and
understanding what candy/snacks mean to people and what is popular and in what situations
call for different snacks.it has interesting history on snacks and some good
morals about why snacks are important to people. It’s worth reading as its
teaches some interesting tales on snacks and the reasons why snacks in general
are close to our hearts and help us through hard times. Over all its interesting
concept and it needs to be read as its really makes you want to eat your favourite
snacks new and old.
My personal fact for day nine of the manga Advent Calendar
of 2016, is that I like reading some sports anime as there seems to be all the
rage these days like Haikyū!!, Yowamushi Pedal and Ace of Diamond.I will be
going down the retro path to see one of my most loved sport manga of my youth.
See you all soon, Regards Fiona
