Hello, Welcome to the 3rd day of the manga Advent Calendar
of 2016 and today we will be looking into some retro anime that I recently
found “XXXHolic” With a new manga adaptation coming out right now I was thinking
to highlight where this came from and also draw attention to one of the stangest shows that has real morals at play.
The basic premise is that Kimihiro Watanuki is a spirit
magnet and he hates getting pestered by them. He makes a deal with a mysterious
woman known as Yuuko. She claims to be able to rid him of these spirits in
exchange for working in here shop where she grants peoples wishes. Each of the stories
are independent to the main story and they are interested in the themes that are
brought up from lying to families, it covers stuff that normally would not be
covered, that creates a interesting atmosphere. There is also an overarching story
at play due it takes a back seat till its needed. Another reason why I like
this is the art style are amazing due to the older and larger scale drawings which were popular at the time and
this style has been not as popular in modern shows which is a shame, due to the
unique style of the show.
My personal fact for day three is that I am a lover of stories
with meaning that provides social commentary on real-life issues. The choice
for tomorrow hailed as a modern classic which needed to be made as an anime ASAP
due to the modern context of the story and the themes of nuclear war and destruction
that makes people think how we could all die right now due to higher powers we can’t
control.
